Under direction of the Lab Services Director, the Specimen Processor is responsible for independently drawing and registering specimens and delivering results. The Specimen Processor must demonstrate skills in obtaining specimens from all age groups serviced utilizing a variety of blood collection devices and safety devices. They must also demonstrate good clerical skills and computer skills in data entry and communications skills with patients, coworkers, and other departments. This position is also responsible for specimen processing of samples sent to approved reference labs and other lab departments. Requirements: High school diploma or equivalentA certificate in Phlebotomy from an accredited phlebotomy course or Certified Office Laboratory Technician, or Patient Care Technician (PCT) is preferred. On the job training is also acceptable.Must have (5) five years of phlebotomy experience, with experience in geriatric specimen collection.Must hold a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross. Recertification required before expiration throughout employment.Valid Driver's License required.
