Job Description

We're looking for a dynamic, experienced Bar Manager to lead our bar program at Mr. Purple. If you're passionate about hospitality, have a sharp eye for beverage trends, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we want to talk to you. As Bar Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations of the bar, leading a talented team, crafting standout drink programs, and ensuring every guest has an exceptional experience.

Responsibilities...

Operations Management

  • Oversee daily bar operations, including service, inventory, purchasing, and product quality
  • Perform opening and closing duties for the bar
  • Maintain cleanliness throughout on-site and off-site premises
  • Manage bar equipment and ensure proper maintenance and repair as needed

Financial Management

  • Manage beverage costs, ordering, and vendor relationships to achieve financial targets
  • Monitor pour costs and identify opportunities to improve profitability
  • Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies

Beverage Program Development

  • Develop and maintain cocktail menus, seasonal features, and innovative beverage programs
  • Stay current on industry trends and bring fresh ideas to the beverage program
  • Collaborate with the General Manager/Corporate on promotions, events, and new offerings

People Management

  • Lead, train, and mentor bartenders, barbacks, and support staff
  • Foster a positive, professional, and efficient work environment
  • Conduct staff meetings and maintain strong communication with the management team
  • Assist with recruiting and hiring new team members
  • Schedule and manage bar staff to ensure appropriate coverage based on business needs

Guest Relations Management

  • Maintain high service standards to ensure every guest has an exceptional experience
  • Support service by working behind the bar or on the floor when needed
  • Address guest concerns related to bar service promptly and courteously
  • Determine when to discontinue liquor service to an intoxicated guest, and advise co-workers on how to handle the situation responsibly

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and alcohol service regulations
  • Uphold applicable employment laws and company policies and procedures
  • Complete required certifications, including Alcohol Awareness and any applicable health/safety training

Reporting

  • Document relevant information in the Management Log Book/software programs and review regularly
  • Track and report on beverage sales, costs, and inventory trends to the management team

General

  • Contribute to business planning, goal setting, and operational strategy
  • Complete projects as assigned in a timely manner
  • Attend management meetings and periodic informational meetings
  • Maintain a well-manicured appearance and persona that reflects the established image of the company

Requirements

  • 2+ years of bar management or supervisory experience in a full-service, high-volume operation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer functions
  • Strong working knowledge of POS (Point of Sale) systems
  • In-depth knowledge of spirits, cocktail preparation, and beverage trends
  • Alcohol Awareness Certification 

Must be willing and able to

  • Complete and obtain training and proper document of state and city sanitation certificate
  • Complete management training program
  • Work a variable and flexible schedule which may include nights, weekends and holidays
